Mexico City, Mexico
Two buildings, one above the other, inhabit this slice of hillside. An entrance plaza between the two frames the view to the city. The apartments are lofts housed in two-story concrete egg-crate frames. A service bar along one of the party walls maximizes open living space. In the upper building, lofts are arranged along a double-loaded hallway; in the lower building, parking is in the rear with lofts in front. On the lowest level is a lofty store for Roche Bobois. The construction method takes advantage of local traditions, with exposed concrete, hardwood windows, and etched-glass interior partitions.
